The Affinity Diagram

Affinity diagramming (also known as the KJ method or affinity chart) is a visualization technique that allows researchers to categorize and sort insights based on key themes.

The innovation group comes together with insights already in-hand (written on cards or post-its), works together to try to identify how those insights could be sorted based on themes, and then groups all of those insights until they're all sorted.

Affinity diagrams are a great way to get everyone on the same page in terms of how insights should be categorized, which will have a major impact on how the solution to your challenge is framed.
